Trump States Tehran Requested Meeting Scheduled Tomorrow in Doha
U.S. President Donald Trump reiterated that Iran will not possess nuclear weapons. On 'X', Trump linked this assertion to record-high approval ratings, stating they were 'the highest ever... even higher than on election day, November 5th,' before concluding: 'Iran will not possess a nuclear weapon!' In a separate post, Trump also revealed that 'Tehran requested a meeting, which will be held tomorrow in Doha.' This declaration comes after the Iranian Foreign Ministry earlier today denied American media reports of an upcoming meeting between Iranian and U.S. technical teams in Qatar. These reports suggested discussions on implementing a memorandum of understanding to halt hostilities. Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharib Abadi stated 'no technical meetings for working groups are planned this week,' calling the information 'incorrect,' as reported by state television. Qatar plays a key role in the financial aspect of negotiations, holding $12 billion in Iranian funds frozen by U.S. sanctions. President Trump has frequently stressed that Tehran will not acquire nuclear weapons, asserting the U.S. destroyed Iran's military capabilities. Two days ago, he threatened military action to 'remove Iran from existence' following U.S. airstrikes on '10 Iranian areas' targeting alleged military sites and radars. Tehran, in turn, claimed it targeted 'American military bases' in Bahrain and Kuwait. However, strikes have since calmed, with informed U.S. and diplomatic sources confirming a technical session between the two sides will convene soon.
