Egyptian star reveals personal aspiration regarding stepping away from lights

Egyptian actress Mai Kassab expressed a persistent inner desire to step away from the acting field, abandon the world of fame and spotlights, and dedicate herself entirely to worshiping God. She emphasized that such a step represents a high degree of obedience and profound faith. During her guest appearance on the program "Mirror," hosted by media figure Khaled Farag, Mai Kassab explained that the idea of retirement and devotion to worship will remain a cherished aspiration accompanying her, hoping to achieve it one day. Mai Kassab stated that this aspiration will stay within her until her dying breath, hoping God grants it to her. She noted that deciding to leave behind all worldly pleasures and devote oneself to the worship of God constitutes a major act of obedience and a high level of faith. She added that when a person no longer needs anything else from worldly life and fulfills the role for which God created us, moving away from the artistic community or losing fame and spotlights will not pose a crisis for her. Mai Kassab stressed that she was never obsessed with fame or public attention. She mentioned that while some people might be devastated if passersby did not recognize them on the street, for her, it is completely normal. She continued jokingly, recalling that at the beginning of her career, she faced situations where people mistakenly called her by other names or confused her with other female artists, yet she was never bothered and instead laughed it off. Mai Kassab touched upon the position of her husband, singer Oka, should she make the decision to retire from art in the future. She affirmed that her personal decision would not necessarily mean demanding he take the same step, as each of them has the freedom to choose what suits them. She stated that her relationship with Oka is healthy, and at that time he would be free to make his own decision. She cited a previous situation when she decided to perform Hajj and offered for him to accompany her, but he told her he was not ready to take that step at that time. She added that when she decided to perform Hajj, she asked him if he would like to go with her, and he replied that he was not ready. She told him she was going because she wanted to perform Hajj and fulfill it on behalf of her late father and mother. Mai Kassab concluded her remarks by noting that she traveled to perform Hajj accompanied by artist Shaimaa Seif, thereby confirming her respect for the differences in timing and personal and religious choices between her and her husband.
