Dark Sunglasses Highlight Fadl Shaker's Return Concert
Dark sunglasses captured significant attention during the historic "Return of the Absent" concert performed by Lebanese artist Fadl Shaker as part of the opening day of Riyadh Season. It was evident that the trio—Fadl Shaker, his son artist Mohamed Fadl Shaker, and singer Nawal—wore these glasses for different reasons carrying emotional and visual significance, making them a prominent feature of the event. The event received wide attention and topped search engines and social media platforms, marking Fadl Shaker's first public stage appearance after more than 14 years of absence. Fadl Shaker wore the sunglasses in an appearance that was not surprising, as he had previously worn them during rehearsals and preparations for the concert. This was due to the negative effects of diabetes complications that damaged his eyes. His eye condition requires him to avoid strong lighting and bright lights at all times, especially during concerts. As for Mohamed Fadl Shaker, he has mentioned on several occasions his preference for wearing dark sunglasses to hide his emotions and tears while performing concerts that include his father's famous song "How Are You After My Departure." The young artist, who joined his father on stage to perform several songs, explained that this song deeply moves him, especially when his father was still detained pending trial in Beirut before his recent release. The concert also featured a surprising moment when singer Nawal joined the stage to perform the famous duet "I Try," first presented in 2001 with Fadl Shaker, in an atmosphere filled with romance and nostalgia. Observers noted that Nawal’s wearing of dark sunglasses was a gesture of solidarity with Fadl Shaker, as she removed them during the second half of the duet. Fadl Shaker appeared on the Riyadh Season stage on Thursday evening amid enthusiastic cheers and a warm welcome from the audience in his first concert after 14 years. His entrance on the Abu Bakr Salem stage was met with prolonged applause, fireworks, and audience chants expressing their longing for the returning artist, who remained silent throughout the emotionally charged event. The concert was also marked by the joint performance of Fadl Shaker and his son Mohamed, delivering several songs including "How Are You After My Departure," which was previously filmed as a music video.
