CENTCOM US military redirects 81 commercial vessels during Iran blockade

The US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced today, Sunday, that the amphibious assault ship USS Tripoli (LHA 7) group is operating in the Arabian Sea as part of efforts to enforce the US naval blockade on Iran.

US Central Command stated, in a post on the "X" platform, that "a US sailor was standing watch aboard the ship while transiting the Arabian Sea," noting that "US forces redirected 81 commercial vessels and disrupted 4 other ships until May 17; to ensure compliance with the blockade procedures."

This comes within the framework of naval operations initiated by the United States in mid-April to prevent ships from entering or leaving Iranian ports, as part of escalating pressures on Tehran.
