Al-Zaidi Confirms Full Control of State Institutions Over Security and Military Decisions

The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Prime Minister, Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi, affirmed that security and military decisions are now fully controlled by official state institutions with a purely national character. This statement came during his chairing of an extraordinary meeting of the National Security Council, where the fortifications and military and security tasks of the armed forces were discussed in the post-withdrawal phase of the international coalition against ISIS, following the completion of national sovereignty. The meeting reviewed arrangements and plans aimed at enhancing the military institutions' capability to consolidate security and stability, as well as strengthening the rule of law and the state. Al-Zaidi emphasized the necessity of constant vigilance and readiness, raising the level of coordination and cooperation among all forces and security agencies, updating plans, procedures, and databases, and relying on modern technological means to maintain security and stability across all regions of the country. He also highlighted the importance of reinforcing intelligence efforts, supporting proactive security work, and pursuing sources of extremist rhetoric and sectarian incitement that target national unity and threaten social peace and cohesion. Al-Zaidi pointed out the vital role of the Military Industrialization Authority at this stage by establishing productive partnerships with global companies specialized in manufacturing weapons and military equipment. He confirmed the government’s ongoing efforts to achieve regional and international partnerships for joint cooperation, away from axis politics and based on mutual interests.
