YouTuber Reveals Details of iPhone Duo Foldable Screen Issue
Reports on social media platforms and the iPhone Duo foldable phone user community on Reddit highlight rapid and notable device malfunctions. Some users reported that the phone malfunctioned just hours after use, with the hinge appearing stuck, followed by an audible cracking sound and screen fractures, all occurring roughly in the same area. YouTuber "CuriousHagi" conducted durability tests and successfully replicated the screen cracking issue, then disassembled the phone to investigate the cause. The disassembly revealed a complex hinge design, consisting of a central gear-like hinge and two different types of linkage hinges. The broken part was identified as one of the mid-phone linkages, which was thinner than the others and fractured at a small notch representing a weak point. Marks were also found where the hinge meets the support plate, indicating the likely point where the hinge got stuck and caused the malfunction.
