Vala Farid Elected Speaker of Kurdistan Parliament

The Kurdistan Parliament elected Vala Farid Ibrahim from the Kurdistan Democratic Party bloc as its speaker on Wednesday. Rami Nouri Audish from the Christian bloc was elected as deputy speaker, and Mona Nabi Nader was chosen as secretary to the speaker. The opening session of the new legislative term was held after a suspension exceeding two years. The session saw broad participation including 39 deputies from the Kurdistan Democratic Party bloc, one deputy from the Turkmen bloc, two deputies from the Chaldean-Assyrian bloc, one deputy from the Socialist bloc, one from the People's Current bloc, and between five to seven other deputies.
