US Secretary of State: Iraq Sovereignty Tops Agenda for PM's Washington Visit
U.S. Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, announced today, Thursday, that enhancing Iraq's sovereignty will be the main agenda item for Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaidi's imminent visit to Washington. Rubio stated in a press conference that Tehran's support for armed factions represents a clear model of Iran's interference in Iraqi affairs via its proxies. He added, however, that the U.S. has recently noted good and constructive indications from the current Iraqi government regarding the issue of limiting arms to state control.
