US Envoy Witkoff: Iran to Permit IAEA Inspectors Access to Nuclear Facilities
US Presidential Envoy Steve Witkoff affirmed that Iran will grant inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) access to its nuclear facilities. This move, he stated, aims to bolster transparency regarding its nuclear program. Speaking at a closed briefing to the US Congress on Thursday, Witkoff revealed that Tehran intends to invite the UN nuclear watchdog to inspect its facilities and commence the identification and disclosure of enriched materials within the country. Witkoff clarified that this permission for IAEA access is separate from the Memorandum of Understanding signed between Washington and Tehran on June 18. He added that this step is outlined in a letter prepared by the Iranian side for the IAEA, signifying Tehran's commitment to nuclear transparency and its efforts to demonstrate good faith.
