Trump Declares Moon Belongs to America
Former U.S. President Donald Trump announced that the Moon belongs to the United States, in a series of posts on his "Truth Social" platform. The posts included over 30 images, most of which were generated by artificial intelligence, notably a picture of the Moon with "The Moon belongs to us" written on it, alongside an American flag. This declaration comes just days after Trump's visit to a space center in Texas, where he expressed his desire to have a lunar landmark named after him. During the visit, Trump welcomed astronaut Reid Wiseman, commander of the Artemis II mission, and mentioned that a lunar crater had previously been named after his late wife. The content of the posts varied widely, starting with an image of actor Robert De Niro wearing a pro-Trump shirt, a sarcastic nod to their well-known disagreements. The images also featured historical fantasies, including a visit by the first U.S. President George Washington to Trump. Through these images, Trump sought to rename geographical landmarks to align with his visions, posting pictures showing him changing the name of Lake Ontario to "Lake America," and the state of New Mexico to "New America." The posts also included an AI-generated image showing Iran slightly modified to resemble Trump's features, and other pictures of sunken warships, and a television displaying his successor Joe Biden wearing a pro-Trump hat. The posts concluded with an image of a burning passenger ship sinking, with "Democratic Party" written on it.
