Trump Announces Progress in Iran Nuclear Transparency Talks
US President Donald Trump announced Iran's full agreement to "highest level," long-term nuclear inspections, to ensure "nuclear transparency." He stressed negotiations were conditional on Tehran accepting these measures. Trump added, via a Truth Social post Tuesday, that the US agreed, in return for this step and "significant concessions" from Iran, to keep the Strait of Hormuz open and not impose a naval blockade. He confirmed naval assets would remain positioned, anticipating re-imposition. He clarified sanction waiver funds, released by the Treasury, would go into a US-managed escrow account. These funds would be exclusively for buying food and medical supplies from the US, including corn, wheat, and soybeans from its farmers. Trump also cited a humanitarian crisis in Iran, urging essential aid "before it's too late." He affirmed ongoing talks are "going well." In a separate post, Trump noted 19 million barrels of oil crossed Hormuz yesterday, labeling it a "historic record." He highlighted falling oil prices and the world becoming "a safer place."
