Tehran Calls for Dialogue with Gulf States to Dispel Ambiguity After Understanding with Washington

Iran's Foreign Minister, Abbas Araqchi, on Thursday called for dialogue with Gulf states to dispel the "existing ambiguity" following an understanding between Tehran and Washington. This call occurred during a phone conversation with his Kuwaiti counterpart, Sheikh Dr. Ahmad Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Sabah, as per an Iranian Foreign Ministry statement. Araqchi briefed his Kuwaiti counterpart on details of the understanding between Iran and the United States, also reviewing the latest developments related to the file. Araqchi expressed hope that this understanding with Washington would contribute to restoring peace and stability to the region. He affirmed that dialogue between Tehran and Gulf states is necessary to remove the "existing ambiguity" and enhance mutual communication and cooperation. The two ministers also discussed several prominent issues in bilateral relations, agreeing to continue diplomatic consultations to follow up on the discussed files and strengthen cooperation between the two countries. In a related context, a Pakistani mediator announced Wednesday the electronic signing by the United States and Iran of the "Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding" to end the conflict. This MoU took immediate effect; as a first step, Iran will reopen the Strait of Hormuz, while the United States will lift the naval blockade.
