Senior Iraqi Security Delegation Affirms Baghdad's Rejection of Sovereignty Violation While Respecting Neighbors

Iraq has unequivocally affirmed its rejection of any breach of its sovereignty, reiterating its commitment not to threaten neighboring countries or permit its territory to be used against any of them. This statement was made by Lieutenant General Abdul Amir Al-Shammari, Director of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Office, during his leadership of a high-level security delegation on an official visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. A spokesperson for the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Sabah Al-Noaman, disclosed details of the visit, specifying that it was conducted under the directives of Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi. This visit, which took place on Thursday, followed a previous visit by a Saudi delegation to Iraq last week. The Iraqi delegation included Hamid Al-Shatri, Head of the Iraqi National Intelligence Service; Lieutenant General Zaid Hawshi Al-Moussawi, Head of the Counter-Terrorism Service; and Lieutenant General Muhannad Al-Asadi, Commander of Air Defense. During their stay in Riyadh, the delegation met with Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, the Saudi Minister of Defense. Senior Saudi officials attended the meeting, including Khalid bin Ali Al-Humaidan, Head of General Intelligence; General Fayyadh bin Hamed Al-Ruwaili, Chief of the General Staff; Lieutenant General Fahd bin Hamad Al-Salman, Commander of Joint Forces; and Hisham bin Abdulaziz bin Saif, Advisor to the Minister of Defense for Intelligence Affairs. Discussions during the meeting covered bilateral relations and military and defense cooperation between the two brotherly countries. The agenda also included international border security, joint security and intelligence coordination, and regional developments. Both sides emphasized the importance of continuing coordination and cooperation to serve their mutual interests and achieve security and stability in the region. For his part, the Saudi Minister of Defense reaffirmed the Kingdom's unwavering commitment to standing with Iraq to support its security, stability, development, and prosperity, in the best interest of Iraq and its brotherly people. In a related context, the Director of the Commander-in-Chief's Office lauded the strong fraternal relations between the two nations. He reiterated Iraq's firm stance against threatening any neighboring countries or allowing Iraqi territory to be used as a platform for any hostile action against them. He also underscored Iraq's absolute rejection of any breach of its sovereignty, provided it respects the sovereignty of its neighbors. Al-Shammari expressed Iraq's keen commitment to regional security and its aspiration to enhance joint cooperation, coordination, and consolidate bilateral relations with all parties.
