Repatriation of 11 Iraqi Migrants from Libya Completed
The Chargé d'Affaires of the Iraqi Embassy in Libya, Ahmed Al-Sahhaf, announced on Thursday the repatriation of 11 Iraqi migrants from Tripoli back home, praising Libyan security cooperation in facilitating the voluntary return. Al-Sahhaf explained that the flight departed from Mitiga Airport in Tripoli toward Erbil Airport via Turkey. He noted that the embassy has successfully organized the return of 402 migrants since resuming its diplomatic operations in Tripoli two years ago. He added that the diplomatic mission continuously provides humanitarian, consular, medical, and administrative assistance in direct coordination with Iraqi national authorities, alongside the Ministry of Interior and the Department of Foreign Relations in the Kurdistan Regional Government. Meanwhile, Al-Sahhaf reiterated his warning to Iraqi youth and families against dealing with human trafficking networks, emphasizing fatal risks such as drowning, disappearance, and unknown fates. He commended Libyan security forces in Tripoli, specifically the Anti-Illegal Migration Agency in Tajoura, for their exceptional support during voluntary repatriations.
