Qatari Foreign Ministry Confirms No High-Level Meeting Between Iran and US in Doha

The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed today, Tuesday, that no high-level meeting between Iran and the United States is scheduled in the capital, Doha. Majed Al-Ansari, spokesperson for the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that US envoy Steve Witkoff is currently in Doha to meet with mediators and follow up on negotiations. Al-Ansari affirmed that no high-level meeting is currently scheduled between Washington and Tehran, nor will any direct talks be held with Iranian officials. Al-Ansari added that the 6 billion dollars in frozen Iranian funds have not yet been transferred to Tehran. He indicated that any transfer agreement would come within the framework of consensus between the two sides and be subject to developments in the negotiation process. The spokesperson also affirmed that the issue of the Strait of Hormuz, including its reopening and the resumption of navigation, holds paramount priority. He noted that Qatar is coordinating with the Sultanate of Oman to ensure the safe passage of ships, with priority given to securing navigation and clearing mines from the Strait. Al-Ansari emphasized that freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz is a guaranteed right for all Gulf states, and its closure or threatening navigation safety cannot be accepted. He clarified that a direct de-escalation communication line was used to help contain recent confrontations. The spokesperson also praised France's participation in efforts to clear mines from the Strait of Hormuz, stressing that the current phase focuses on restoring regional security and stability to pre-war levels.
