Prime Minister Announces Secured Salaries, 2027 Budget Focus on Electricity, Declines Second Term
He confirmed during the eighth Baghdad Dialogue Conference today that the government has successfully secured public employee salaries and government payments. He indicated the government is set to submit the draft budget soon, emphasizing existing reform plans to tackle the nation's economic challenges. He stated the government holds multiple solutions for economic issues, having already secured employee salaries and payments, with a strategy extending to cover future years. He further noted alternative oil export routes have been established, and the government is preparing to present a budget designed as a roadmap for Iraq's economic future. The Prime Minister highlighted that next year's budget will focus specifically on the electricity sector, encompassing production, distribution, and transmission, alongside expanding solar energy use. He also pointed to reforms in domestic fuel consumption based on a new economic model, anticipating these measures will generate financial savings estimated at 17.8 trillion Iraqi Dinars annually. He concluded by affirming his commitment not to seek a second term, suggesting the current reform programs will bear fruit for future administrations.
