Prime Minister Affirms Commitment to Rule of Law

Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaidi affirmed on Wednesday that the government is committed to strengthening the rule of law. This statement came during his meeting in Washington D.C., early today Baghdad time, with several former United States ambassadors to Iraq. The meeting, which brought Al-Zaidi together with the former diplomats, discussed ways to develop bilateral relations between Iraq and the United States across various fields, in addition to addressing recent developments in Iraq and the wider region. Emphasis was also placed on the importance of enhancing joint cooperation to serve the interests of both friendly nations and their peoples. Al-Zaidi underscored Iraq's aspiration to build balanced and sustainable relations with the United States, based on the principles of mutual interests and respect. He noted that the government continues to implement its program aimed at solidifying the foundations of security and stability, reinforcing the rule of law, combating corruption, and supporting paths for development and economic reform. The Prime Minister listened to the former ambassadors' insights regarding the future of Iraqi-American relations, leveraging their diplomatic experiences and expertise, and stressing the necessity of utilizing these experiences to foster understanding and broaden the horizons of bilateral cooperation.
