PM Affirms Government's Commitment to Speicher Martyrs' Rights and Weapons Containment
Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaydi affirmed Friday the government's commitment to securing Speicher massacre martyrs' rights and commemorating their sacrifices. In a statement, Al-Zaydi noted that "on June 12th annually, we solemnly recall modern Iraqi history's most heinous crimes: the Speicher massacre, perpetrated by ISIS terrorists. This brutal act claimed innocent youth lives, targeting humanity, homeland, and human values." He added, "this tragedy testifies to terrorism's criminality. Speicher martyrs' memory endures in Iraqi consciousness, a symbol of sacrifice, patience, and unity against forces of darkness and extremism." Al-Zaydi reiterated, "the government prioritizes martyrs' families' rights, utilizing all capabilities to guarantee legal and moral rights, caring for families, and immortalizing sacrifices befitting great national stature." He noted, "Iraqis, through martyrs' sacrifices and security forces' bravery, proved ability to defeat terrorism and thwart its schemes." Stressing, "national responsibility necessitates continued efforts to combat extremism, enhance security, stability, consolidate state sovereignty, confine weapons to constitutional institutions and authorities, ensuring civil peace." He emphasized, "advancing a strong, just state, founded on rule of law and respect for rights and freedoms, pursuing economic and service development, providing dignified life opportunities. This aligns with a balanced foreign policy based on respect for sovereignty, mutual interests, fostering international relations serving Iraq and its people." Al-Zaydi concluded, "loyalty to martyrs' blood transforms their sacrifices into a force solidifying national unity, building state institutions, protecting gains watered by their pure blood, and ensuring such crimes are not repeated." He concluded: "Mercy and immortality for righteous Speicher martyrs, and all Iraqi martyrs, with shame and disgrace upon killers, terrorists, and their accomplices."
