Parliamentary Legal Committee to Host Electoral Commission on National ID Card Adoption
The Parliamentary Legal Committee decided Thursday to host the Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) to discuss national ID card adoption for upcoming elections and define its technical and legal requirements. This decision came during a committee meeting, chaired by Rebwar Hadi, which addressed various draft laws, legislative proposals, and files, as per a statement from the Parliament's media department. The committee further reviewed the long-term leave law report, preparing it for a second parliamentary reading, and considered other laws under its purview. It also resolved to organize an upcoming workshop with concerned parties to gather feedback on minors' welfare and juvenile care laws, aiming for more comprehensive legislation. The committee stressed the importance of continuous, careful study and discussion of laws, consulting specialized bodies and stakeholders, to mature legislation, enhance effectiveness, and achieve goals.
