Parliamentary Bloc Suspends Attendance in Protest Against Violations

The Reconstruction and Development parliamentary bloc announced on Monday the suspension of its attendance at parliamentary sessions in protest against violations and insults targeting the coalition and its leadership. The bloc stated in a declaration that it follows with deep condemnation and rejection the systematic violations and irresponsible behaviors some deputies insist on adopting, which represent a clear deviation from the principles of parliamentary work and political competition rules, falling within the framework of malicious defamation campaigns and systematic targeting of the bloc and its leadership. The statement added that the bloc has consistently refrained from retaliation and prioritized wisdom and dialogue, submitting an official memorandum to the Speaker demanding the referral of the concerned deputy to the Parliamentary Ethics Committee, but no practical measures were taken, encouraging continued insults. The situation requires the Speaker and his deputies to take a firm and responsible stance to put an end to these practices. Accordingly, the bloc announced the suspension of its attendance at parliamentary sessions and will not resume participation until legal procedures are applied according to the council's internal regulations, ensuring the cessation of violations, preserving the dignity of parliamentary work, and respecting political forces and their leaders. The bloc emphasized that maintaining political stability and fair competition is not merely a choice but a moral and legal commitment it will defend by all available legal means, affirming that this stance does not affect its commitment to serving the people. The bloc called on the parliament to dedicate its time and efforts to supporting the service of citizens in facing major political, economic, and security challenges instead of engaging in disputes that threaten political and social stability.
