Parliament Speaker: Iraq Not a Platform to Harm Arab States' Security

Parliament Speaker Mohammed al-Halbousi affirmed Thursday that Iraq will not be a platform to harm the security or stability of any Arab nation, underscoring Baghdad's commitment to national sovereignty and regional solidarity. Speaking at the 39th Arab Parliamentary Union conference via video, al-Halbousi clarified Iraq's firm sovereign principle: national sovereignty is a commitment to uphold, not merely a slogan. He stressed Iraq will not be an arena for regional/international disputes, a corridor for aggression, or a platform to harm Arab state security. He strongly rejected any aggression, regardless of source or pretext. Al-Halbousi added that Arab regional security is indivisible, and stability a collective responsibility. Iraq prides itself on Arab roots, strong ties with brethren, and efforts to build partnerships based on brotherhood, mutual respect, and shared interests. He noted the Palestinian cause remains the unwavering compass and primary Arab issue, topping Iraq's foreign policy. This confirms absolute support for Palestinian rights to a fully sovereign independent state with Jerusalem as capital. Iraq's unwavering support for Lebanon was reiterated, backing all measures to protect its security, preserve stability, and extend sovereignty against daily brutal aggressions and blatant violations by the Zionist entity, defying international resolutions. He affirmed Iraq's full solidarity with Arab states facing exceptional circumstances: Syria, Yemen, Libya, and Somalia. Al-Halbousi concluded that a unified Arab parliamentary stance is crucial for addressing escalating challenges and promoting regional security, stability, and development. He renewed Iraq's commitment to unifying Arab ranks and strengthening stability, meeting aspirations for a secure, prosperous future.
