Parliament Adjourns Session After Electing Nizar Amidi as President

The Iraqi Parliament adjourned its session on Saturday after electing Nizar Mohammed Saeed Amidi as President of Iraq.

The session was chaired by Haibat Al-Halbousi, who opened the 17th session of the sixth electoral cycle dedicated to electing the president.

Amidi won 227 votes, while his rival Muthanna Amin Nader received 15 votes, with seven ballots declared invalid.
