National Wisdom Movement Leader Affirms Exclusive State Control of Arms and Preventing Power Proliferation as an Iraqi Imperative
Ammar al-Hakim, head of the National Wisdom Movement, commented on the state's exclusive arms control. Al-Hakim stressed that "state prestige is not a political slogan, but vital for citizen protection. The state requires a law above all, arms solely with legitimate institutions, an independent judiciary, professional security forces, and an administration capable of managing crises before they become catastrophes." He added that "exclusive state control of arms, regulating security decisions, and preventing multiple power centers, is a genuine Iraqi need and a domestic decision, not an external demand. It serves as a direct lesson from Speicher and all past national tragedies."
