Ministry of Oil Clarifies Details of Iraqi Crude Export Surge to High Levels for One Day Via Route Outside Hormuz

The Iraqi Ministry of Oil clarified on Monday that crude oil exports had reached 4 million barrels per day, noting this specific volume was recorded for one day only. The Ministry stated in a release that this temporary surge resulted from the Oil Marketing Company exporting a quantity of crude outside the Strait of Hormuz. The Ministry indicated the involved tanker carried Qayara crude. This volume supplemented usual exports for sale and loading from southern ports and and the northern outlet, with loading operations following a specific schedule upon completion of economically viable quantities for tanker transport. The Ministry further confirmed that the average daily export of Iraqi crude oil during September, until this clarification, stood at approximately 2.6 million barrels per day. It noted this average is subject to change based on quantities expected for export in the month's remaining days. Achieving these rates is considered a significant accomplishment given current conditions and ongoing challenges at the Strait of Hormuz, the Ministry affirmed. It reiterated its commitment to maintaining oil export operations at the highest possible volume to secure vital financial revenues for the nation's general treasury.
