Military Spokesperson Announces Baghdad-Erbil Agreement on Oil Facilities Protection and Export Resumption

The Spokesperson for the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Sabah Al-Nuaman, announced today, Sunday, an agreement between Baghdad and Erbil to establish joint plans aimed at protecting oil companies. Al-Nuaman stated that a high-level federal military and security delegation, led by the Chief of Staff of the Army, First Lieutenant General Abdul Amir Rashid Yarallah, and comprising senior officers, visited Erbil province today. He clarified that the visit, directed by Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaidi, aimed to assert the rule of law, ensure economic stability, and discuss joint coordination for vital facility protection. He indicated that the delegation held strategic meetings with regional leaders, including Masoud Barzani, President of the Kurdistan Region Nechirvan Barzani, and Prime Minister of the Region Masrour Barzani, attended by regional security officials and representatives in Baghdad. An agreement was reached to develop robust plans to protect oil companies and prevent their targeting, thereby creating conditions for resuming oil production and export, revitalizing the economy, and supporting reconstruction efforts. During the meetings, both parties also affirmed the continuation of joint work between the Iraqi Army and Peshmerga to close security gaps and pursue terrorism. For his part, the President of the Kurdistan Region commended the close coordination with Baghdad, emphasizing that the resumption of oil exports is a strategic step to revitalize the country. The military leadership affirmed that the security of vital facilities is a non-negotiable sovereign constant, and the integration of efforts guarantees the protection of sovereignty and the sustainability of stability.
