Japan confirms support Zaidi government and enhancing stability Iraq

The Japanese government confirmed its support for the government of Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaidi and the enhancement of stability in Iraq.

A statement issued by the Japanese government stated that it "welcomes the formation of the new government in Iraq following the election of the Iraqi House of Representatives last November."

It added that it "strongly hopes that all Iraqi parties will work together under the new government to achieve more stability and development in Iraq. In light of the current situation in the Middle East, Japan also expects Iraq to contribute to restoring stability in the region."

It indicated that it "will cooperate with the Zaidi government for the stability of the Middle East and the strengthening of bilateral relations between Japan and Iraq."
