Iraqi President Affirms Sustained Anti-Corruption Efforts and Wise Approach to Armed Factions File

President Nizar Amidi affirmed on Saturday that combating corruption is no less critical than fighting terrorism, emphasizing an unwavering commitment to confront it and pursue it to its conclusion. Amidi clarified that restricting arms to state control is among the foremost challenges facing the government. He highlighted that Iraq experienced multiple attacks in a single night from entities including the United States, Israel, Iran, and armed factions, underscoring the fragile security situation in the country. The President also indicated that the government plans to address the file of armed factions with a wise and purely Iraqi approach designed to prevent bloodshed, reiterating Iraq's rejection of its territory being used as a platform to target neighboring countries. Regarding regional affairs, Amidi stated that Iraq will work to resolve outstanding security issues with neighboring Turkey and Iran, particularly those concerning the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) and the Sinjar region. He clarified that resolving the PKK issue necessitates comprehensive political solutions, not solely military ones. In his concluding remarks, the President called for the return of Arab diplomatic missions to Baghdad, asserting that the United States is a strategic partner for Iraq and that the country defines its international relations based on its supreme national interests.
