Iraqi PM and Qatar Emir Emphasize Implementing US-Iran MoU, Freedom of Navigation in Hormuz Strait

Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaydi and Qatar's Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani affirmed on Sunday the paramount importance of implementing the memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran, and ensuring freedom of navigation in the vital Strait of Hormuz. This came during an official discussion session held at Lusail Palace in Doha this morning, where the Qatari Emir welcomed Al-Zaydi and his accompanying delegation, expressing his aspiration for further development in the fraternal relations between the two countries across various fields. For his part, Al-Zaydi extended his condolences and sympathy on the passing of the Emir's father, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa, stressing Iraq's keenness to strengthen bilateral relations. The discussions addressed ways to enhance and develop bilateral relations in various domains, in addition to deliberating on key regional and international issues and developments, particularly the evolving situation in the region. During the meeting, both sides emphasized the necessity for all parties to commit to dialogue and diplomacy, and to adhere to what was agreed upon within the framework of the American-Iranian memorandum of understanding, including guaranteeing freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and promoting regional stability.
