Iraqi government condemns attack on Riyadh airport and calls to end military escalation
The Iraqi government strongly condemned, on Sunday, the attack targeting King Khalid International Airport in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, demanding an immediate halt to military escalation. The spokesperson for the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Sabah Al-Noaman, stated in a press release that the assault resulted in innocent casualties and significant material and human losses, which negatively impacts regional security and stability. The statement clarified that Baghdad categorically rejects all forms of escalation and aggressive actions, especially those targeting civilians and civilian facilities, which deepens conflicts and threatens regional peace. Iraq called for a comprehensive cessation of military operations to spare brotherly peoples from their serious consequences and to protect civilian infrastructure from potential attacks. It also emphasized the importance of adopting dialogue and understanding as a fundamental alternative to violence and weapons, while prioritizing the shared interests of peoples, ensuring freedom of air navigation and transit, and supporting comprehensive developmental and economic projects in the region.
