Iraq Hosts Islamic Cooperation Foreign Ministers to Boost Global Standing and Support Palestine
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Sunday that Baghdad is preparing to host the 52nd Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), emphasizing that this gathering will significantly elevate Iraq's diplomatic status regionally and internationally. Official spokesman for the conference, Ambassador Hassanein Kamel, stated in an official release that Baghdad will convene the Islamic ministerial council after a 45-year hiatus since hosting the 1981 session, underscoring the vital momentum it brings to Iraq's diplomatic presence. Kamel explained that the Baghdad session will serve as an effective diplomatic platform to reduce tensions, bridge differences, and foster dialogue and understanding across the Islamic world. He added that Iraq will assume the OIC Council presidency for a full year, reinforcing its capacity to coordinate unified positions and advance joint Islamic initiatives. Furthermore, the Palestinian cause and critical conditions in the Gaza Strip headline the summit's priorities, alongside pressing humanitarian and political concerns, aiming to solidify solidarity and sustainable development.
