Iraq Calls for Reviving Joint Gulf Security Initiative Under OIC

Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein emphasized on Saturday the importance of reviving the joint Gulf security initiative between the Gulf Cooperation Council states and Iran, noting Iraq's ambition to foster solidarity as it chairs the 52nd session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. Addressing the opening of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers, he pointed out that Islamic countries hold vast capabilities to achieve economic integration, which requires consolidating political stability, respecting national sovereignty, and refraining from the threat or use of force. Hussein also urged enhancing partnerships in renewable energy, reducing emissions, deploying clean technologies, and fostering investments and innovative solutions for environmental protection. He concluded by reaffirming Baghdad's commitment to strengthening cohesion and unity during its current ministerial presidency.
