Iran Reviews U.S. Proposals Amid Positive Atmosphere and Anticipation of New Negotiation Round

Informed sources reported on Saturday that Iran is reviewing U.S. proposals contained in a letter from U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance amid a positive atmosphere prevailing over the negotiation process and expectations of a breakthrough soon. The sources explained that the proposals have been met with receptiveness within Iran, noting that the letter included principles and general guidelines for negotiation without presenting a complete plan. They added that Tehran has formed committees to discuss the proposals related to its nuclear program, and an Iranian delegation is currently in Qatar to address issues requiring further clarification. It was confirmed that discussions are ongoing regarding sequential steps, and a comprehensive proposal has not yet been finalized, with direct communication continuing with the Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council Mohsen Rezaei and mediators. The sources indicated that Iran has requested guarantees for a permanent and comprehensive ceasefire in exchange for opening the Strait of Hormuz. Expectations for a new round of negotiations were expressed, with the timing yet to be determined. Separately, a spokesperson for the Pakistani army said on Friday that the military feels a "cautious optimism" about its mediation efforts between Iran and the United States. Pakistani Army Chief Asim Munir visited Tehran twice this month, and spokesperson Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry confirmed that these visits reflect a degree of positivity. He added that there are powerful parties seeking to sabotage and obstruct the process, believing that the ongoing conflict serves their interests, without naming specific parties.
