Iran Demands Full Compliance Before Reopening Hormuz Strait
The Secretary-General of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, Mohsen Rezai, stated on Tuesday that the U.S. response to Tehran's demands was unconvincing, emphasizing that Washington must fully comply with the seven conditions set by Iran before reopening the Strait of Hormuz. Rezai noted on the platform "X" that the strait would only be reopened after these conditions are met completely and explicitly, as both sides seek an agreement to resume negotiations and reopen the strait. Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghai affirmed at a national conference titled "Alarm Bell, from Iran to Palestine" that the country approaches any negotiations with caution and deep pessimism. Baghai added that Iran does not fear diplomacy and views negotiations as a tool to achieve national interests and prevent worsening insecurity in the region, noting that the U.S. has bombed Iran twice during negotiations within less than a year and violated its commitments shortly after the Islamabad understanding, which heightens Tehran's caution in any diplomatic process.
