High level Iraqi American talks to discuss dangerous ISIS prisoner file

Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein and US Senator Elissa Slotkin discussed the file of ISIS terrorist organization prisoners who were transferred from Syria to Iraq. During the meeting held at the US Senate building in Washington, the two sides reviewed bilateral relations and ways to enhance joint cooperation in security and economic fields. The meeting addressed prospects for developing security cooperation, moving towards a preventive approach, supporting training programs for Iraqi armed forces, and enhancing security institutions. They also discussed supporting government efforts to establish the rule of law and confine weapons to the state to boost stability. Furthermore, the talks covered the file of transferred ISIS detainees, the importance of international cooperation in handling this issue, facilitating the repatriation of foreign nationals, and ongoing coordination with the US Congress. On the economic side, investment opportunities, long-term partnerships, and utilizing the Iraqi diaspora expertise in Michigan were examined.
