Hammoudi emphasizes protecting political system and rejecting foreign interventions
The Head of the Supreme Islamic Iraqi Council, Sheikh Humam Hammoudi, stressed on Monday during the dialogue forum in Basra Governorate that the constitutional political system is based on the sovereignty of the people and their decision, emphasizing the need to preserve it and reject foreign interventions. In a speech, Hammoudi stated that Iraq is moving towards a new phase titled full and comprehensive sovereignty, noting that the withdrawal of US forces came through an Iraqi decision. He added that the government is working to end the foreign military presence, including Turkish forces and NATO troops, alongside an agreement to expel the opposition Turkish forces and disarm the opposing Iranian Kurdish parties in northern Iraq. He pointed out that understanding with the factions is the path to addressing the security file, stressing that the resistance in Iraq has contributed to protecting the state. He explained that the agreement with the factions includes three stages, each lasting three months, starting with halting attacks and proving good intentions, while warning of parties seeking to thwart weapon control understandings, which requires awareness and insight to maintain stability and protect the political system. Regarding the economic file, he indicated that economic movement is linked to salaries and the sustainability of their stability, noting that the Prime Minister faces a test to maintain the official exchange rate of the dollar, while emphasizing the necessity of adhering to the Prime Minister's decision not to receive additional salaries and allowances for himself and his deputies. He added that the Coordination Framework has begun organizing its internal situation by forming committees responsible for following up on strategic, security, economic, political, and service files, and preparing the necessary vision for the state regarding them. He stressed the importance of completing the government formation and filling ministerial vacancies to place the government before its full responsibilities. He concluded by stating that the world is witnessing rapid transformations and Israel is facing increasing international isolation, emphasizing the need to protect independent national decision-making, enhance societal awareness, and combine efforts to consolidate sovereignty and stability and achieve the aspirations of the Iraqi people.
