Foreign Minister Arrives in Amman for Arab League Foreign Ministers Meeting

Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein arrived in the Jordanian capital, Amman, on Sunday evening, to participate in the resumed session of the 165th ordinary meeting of the Council of the Arab League at the foreign ministerial level, scheduled to be held on Monday. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a release that "the meeting is expected to discuss a number of issues of common concern, as well as political and security developments in the region, in addition to topics on the Council's agenda." The statement added that "the official ministerial session will be preceded by a consultative meeting for Arab foreign ministers, aimed at coordinating positions and exchanging views on the issues presented, thereby supporting joint Arab action and strengthening efforts to confront current regional challenges." It also noted that "the meeting is anticipated to witness discussions on several agenda items, prominently the approval of the appointment of former Egyptian Foreign Minister Nabil Fahmy as Secretary-General of the Arab League, based on the mandate issued by Arab leaders during their recent summit."
