Finance Committee Reveals Iraq's Domestic and External Debt Levels

The Parliamentary Finance Committee announced today, Thursday, the size of Iraq's domestic and external debt. Committee member Baqir Al-Yasiri stated that Iraq's domestic debt amounts to 116 trillion dinars, while the external debt reaches 16 trillion dinars. The Finance Committee held a meeting earlier, hosting the Director General of the Public Debt Department to discuss several issues related to public debt and loans included in the draft federal budget law for the fiscal year 2027. The discussion covered the total domestic and external public debt, the guarantees granted whether sovereign or non-sovereign, as well as the internal and external loans listed in the draft budget law.
