Baghdad Prepares to Request Jordan Extradite Businessmen, Former Officials Accused of Corruption

An Iraqi political source, quoted by Jordanian media, revealed that Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi plans to issue official communications to Jordan. These communications aim to secure the handover of businessmen and former officials accused of corruption. The source, close to Al-Zaidi's political circle, indicated that the anticipated correspondence would target businessmen involved in car trade, the owner of a potato chip factory, and a private hospital. The suspects are required to return tens of millions of dollars and unspecified quantities of gold. Baghdad will formally request the seizure of their assets. The Iraqi Prime Minister previously confirmed that this campaign marks a "first phase" in combating corruption, stressing continuous efforts to recover public funds and safeguard citizens' interests without leniency.
