Al-Zaidi praises al-Sadr brigades state joining calls factions follow national path

Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi praised the announcement by National Shia Movement leader Muqtada al-Sadr regarding the Peace Brigades joining the state, calling on armed factions to follow the same national path and work under the state's umbrella.

Al-Zaidi stated in a communiqué that this responsible national stance includes the integration of Peace Brigades formations under the state and placing them under the command of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, in support of state institutions and the rule of law.

He affirmed that this initiative represents an important step toward strengthening internal stability and consolidating the principle of restricting weapons to state authority, while supporting security services in performing their national and constitutional duties.

Al-Zaidi called on all armed factions to follow the same responsible national path and operate under the state and its official institutions, to ensure the protection of Iraq, preserve its sovereignty, and enhance security and stability, based on the principle that the state is the sole authority entitled to monopolize weapons and enforce the law.

He noted that the current phase requires the concerted efforts of all parties, prioritizing the supreme national interest, preserving Iraq's unity, security and stability, and strengthening citizens' confidence in their constitutional institutions under a strong state governed by the rule of law.
