Al-Qabanji Urges Kurdistan to Prevent Iranian Opposition from Attacking Iran and Opening Camps
Sadr al-Din al-Qabanji, the Friday prayer leader in Najaf al-Ashraf, urged the Kurdistan Regional Government to prevent Iranian opposition groups from "transgressing or committing aggression against the Islamic Republic." Al-Qabanji called for these groups to be barred from establishing headquarters or camps in Erbil and other regions. During his Friday sermon, Al-Qabanji affirmed that "Iraq's skies and land must not be used as a platform for aggression against Iran or any other nation," stressing, "Our destiny is one with the Islamic Republic; there is no good in life without them." He also cautioned that "economic openness should not come at the expense of Iraq's sovereignty, independence, and political relations, nor its sentiments, sacrifices, and martyrs," urging that the "Dawn Assault" issue be kept away from politicization, sectarian exploitation, and local and foreign pressures.
