Al-Hakim Announces Iraqi Initiative for Mediation and Regional Tension Reduction
The head of the National State Forces Alliance, Ammar al-Hakim, announced today the launch of an Iraqi initiative aimed at mediating between warring countries to reduce regional tensions. This statement came during a press conference held with the governor of Karbala during his visit to the province, where he praised the service and reconstruction achievements, describing it as a successful model in service delivery with everyone working as one team for the benefit of the citizens. Al-Hakim noted discussions with local officials that addressed regional events that could lead to war, as well as the country's economic situation and financial challenges. Issues concerning farmers and their financial dues, ethical problems, drug issues, and literacy projects were also discussed. He emphasized the importance of considering the number of visitors and residents when determining the province's electricity share, stressing that the estimation should be based on the actual population rather than official records. He pointed out that the federal budget does not include a specific item for the "visitor dollar" project similar to the "petro dollar" project. He stressed that provinces accomplishing projects with their own capabilities deserve rewards from the federal government to encourage other provinces to provide similar services. Al-Hakim concluded by stating that Iraq has launched a mediation project between warring Gulf countries to ease regional tensions, which will positively impact the internal situation in Iraq.
