After Years of Injustice, Al-Kadhimi Admission Places Him Before Political Responsibility for Qi Card Owner Case
Former Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi acknowledgment that errors occurred in handling the case of Bahaa Abdul Hussein, owner of Qi Card, has placed his political responsibility at the centre of public discussion after years of injustice affecting the case and its parties.
Al-Kadhimi was not an outside observer of the Abu Ragheef Committee activities. The committee was established during his tenure under a Diwani Order issued by his government, before Iraq Federal Supreme Court ruled that the order was invalid and annulled it, stressing the necessity of respecting human dignity, judicial independence and the rule of law.
According to international journalistic reporting and subsequent government statements, the committee was also linked to serious allegations of human rights abuses during investigation and detention. This places Abdul Hussein case within a larger file that cannot be ignored or minimised.
Following this acknowledgment, the right of Bahaa Abdul Hussein and Qi Card to fair redress and serious review of the procedures that harmed them becomes increasingly clear, away from attempts to justify or evade responsibility for the political decisions that produced that period.
