After Al-Zaidi directive integrity forms specialized teams investigating government contracts Baghdad provinces
The Integrity Commission announced, today Thursday, the formation of specialized work teams to investigate important government contracts in Baghdad and all provinces.
The Commission stated in a communiqué that in affirmation of its legal commitment, reinforcement of its investigative and preventive procedures, within the comprehensive national framework for combating corruption and preserving public funds, and in alignment with directives issued by Prime Minister Ali Falah al-Zaidi, the Commission announces an escalation of its auditing and investigative work across investigation directorates and offices in Baghdad and all provinces.
It confirmed the immediate formation of specialized work teams under the direct supervision of the Commission's presidency to undertake comprehensive auditing and investigation of a number of important government contracts concluded by ministries and government institutions, to determine their compliance with laws and instructions, identify those responsible for violations against public funds, and expose those who benefited at the expense of the public interest.
The Commission added that the formed committees will strengthen their procedures and increase their pace, noting that their work will proceed in joint coordination with the relevant government institutions to provide documents and data and integrate oversight efforts, culminating in the urgent presentation of investigation results before the competent judicial authorities.
