Washington warns Oman against cooperating with Iranian Hormuz transit fees

US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said, today Thursday, that the United States will not tolerate any attempt to impose a transit fee system in the Strait of Hormuz, warning that the Treasury Department will aggressively target any entities participating directly or indirectly in facilitating the imposition of such fees.

Bessent added in a post on the platform "X" that the Sultanate of Oman must understand that any cooperative partners in this matter will face sanctions, calling on all countries to reject any Iranian attempts to disrupt the free flow of trade through the strait.

Bessent affirmed that the days of what he described as Tehran's terrorizing of the region and the world have ended.
