US Energy Secretary Emphasizes Strait of Hormuz's Vital Role in Global Oil Flow

U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright confirmed that approximately 13 million barrels of oil flow daily through the vital Strait of Hormuz. Speaking to Fox News, Wright explained the U.S. military facilitates the transport of oil, gas, petroleum products, and fertilizers through the Strait. He noted that one day last week saw over 20 million barrels of oil pass, exceeding pre-conflict levels, while the daily average remains around 13 million barrels. Previously, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi announced Tehran had conveyed a seven-day plan to Washington via Qatari mediation, aiming to resume navigation in Hormuz. The Iranian Minister clarified these plan provisions were not new, but part of a prior memorandum of understanding between Iran and the United States. However, U.S. President Donald Trump announced his rejection of the Iranian proposal on Saturday.
