United States Continues to Suspend Iraqi Crude Oil Imports for Fourth Consecutive Week

Data from the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA), released Sunday, showed the United States did not import any Iraqi crude oil shipments for the fourth consecutive week. Iraqi crude imports were "zero" during the week ending July 17. This cessation follows a period when the U.S. imported 71,000 barrels per day in the week ending June 19, before imports completely halted. Conversely, Canada led the list of crude oil suppliers to the United States, providing 3.635 million barrels per day. Venezuela followed with 688,000 barrels per day, then Mexico with 480,000 barrels per day. The United States also imported 242,000 barrels per day from Brazil, 141,000 barrels per day from Colombia, 103,000 barrels per day from Ecuador, and 8,000 barrels per day from Libya. Preliminary weekly EIA data indicated no imports from Saudi Arabia, Iraq, or Nigeria last week.
