Turkey confirms no military deployment for foreign attacks

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan announced that his country will not send any military forces to the territory of another country to launch an attack there. During a joint press conference with his Hungarian counterpart in Ankara, Fidan stated that the Mecca Defense Pact is strictly a defensive alliance rather than an offensive one, explaining that if any member state is attacked, the other nations within the alliance must stand by its side. He emphasized that Turkey will not dispatch troops to another nation to carry out attacks, confirming that Ankara is examining ways to assist Saudi Arabia in countering Houthi attacks, particularly regarding air defenses. It was announced that all necessary preparations to refer the Mecca agreement to the Turkish parliament for ratification have been completed. Regarding the war in Ukraine, Fidan warned of the risks of the ongoing crisis expanding after nearly five years and spilling over into the Black Sea. He added that the increasing attacks on civilian vessels in the Black Sea are beginning to impact navigation security, stressing that under no circumstances should the Black Sea be allowed to transform into a new conflict front. He pointed out that the ongoing war in Ukraine for nearly five years stands at the forefront of the causes behind instability in both the region and the world.
