Trump Urges End to Ukraine-Russia War Amidst Diesel Concerns

U.S. President Donald Trump stated Monday the "absurd war" with Ukraine must end. He explained Russia lost control of its diesel industry due to the conflict, with many refineries damaged and temporarily out of service, causing the world to suffer its consequences. A senior official revealed today Trump pressured Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in a Sunday phone call to halt Kyiv's strikes on Russian refineries. This demand stemmed from concerns attacks exacerbate global diesel shortages and drive up prices. The British "Financial Times" quoted a senior Ukrainian official present during the call, stating Trump's main message was "Diesel, diesel... diesel," urging Zelensky to order forces to cease drone and missile attacks. Citing another senior Ukrainian official familiar with the conversation, the newspaper added Trump expressed deep concern over rising diesel prices, emphasizing his desire to ensure Russian supplies reach the global market for relief.
