Trump chief economic advisor ending Iran war may open way lowering interest rates
Kevin Hassett, economic advisor to US President Donald Trump, indicated that he is confident that any subsequent decline in oil prices will allow room for the Federal Reserve to lower interest rates.
Hassett said in an interview with the American "Fox News" channel that the White House expects energy prices to decline once an agreement is reached with Iran.
This came in conjunction with a post by Trump on social media in which he said that negotiations with Tehran "are proceeding in an orderly and constructive manner."
Hassett added: "We again expect energy prices to drop sharply once an agreement is reached, and when that happens, there will be ample room for the Federal Reserve to make the right decision to lower interest rates." Hassett stressed that he respects the independence of the Federal Reserve.
