The attack resulted in a fire on board the ship, which the crew successfully extinguished. The authority confirmed that the vessel and its crew are safe, and no environmental impact has been reported due to this incident. This incident follows closely on the heels of a previous report by the authority concerning an oil tanker targeted by an unknown projectile in the Strait of Hormuz. At that time, UKMTO stated the incident occurred 8 nautical miles northeast of Lima, Oman, and that authorities were investigating the matter. In the earlier event, the chief safety officer aboard the oil tanker reported that the crew had evacuated the ship and were in a lifeboat, with the British authority confirming no environmental impact reports.
